Book Proposals

Many of our academic clients need assistance with crafting engaging and persuasive book proposals to pitch to university presses.

Whether you already have interest or you’re cold emailing, our book proposal expert can help you craft the perfect proposal that clearly expresses your ideas, outlines your book’s structure, and shows that you’ve done your research, both to complete the book itself and with regard to the book market.

We currently offer two types of services for those who have written a draft proposal or those who need a bit more guidance in the process:

$325

This service is designed for clients who have already written a draft of their book proposal and need a second pair of (expert) eyes to improve their pitch.

Our book proposal expert will review your draft and write up an editorial evaluation with their findings. They will suggest ways to improve your writing, the organization of the proposal, the argumentation, and voice, in addition to giving you a plan for revision.

This service also includes a 60-minute Zoom meeting, where you will have the opportunity to review the editor’s comments on your draft and ask any questions. You should ideally schedule your session with the editor within 14 days after you receive feedback.

$745

This offer is designed for those who are seeking more guidance in crafting, drafting, and reviewing their proposal with an expert. It consists of three live sessions with the book proposal editor, consisting of 60-minute sessions each.

We welcome clients who have written a draft and those who have yet to develop one.

In the first session, our book proposal expert will guide you through the various parts of the proposal. If you have a draft written, they will help you analyze whether your sections fit the typical outline; if you’re coming to the process fresh, you’ll develop a better understanding of where to start. During this session, you will also determine the schedule for completing your first draft and schedule the remaining sessions with the editor.

Following the first session, you will write a draft or revise the draft you’ve already written and send it to our editor, who will review your draft and write up an editorial evaluation with their findings. They will suggest ways to improve your writing, the organization of the proposal, the argumentation, and voice, in addition to giving you a plan for revision. Your second session will be scheduled within14 days after you receive feedback on this draft.

Then, during the second session, you will review the editor’s comments on your draft and ask any questions you may have. After this session, you will make any remaining corrections to your draft with the goal of crafting a proposal that you can begin to send out.

Finally, during the third session, you and the coach will go over any remaining issues and questions, and discuss how you will begin to work on your sample chapters. (Note that this service does not include a review of said chapters; for that service, please see our developmental editing services.)

Note that this is a package deal and the sessions must be purchased together to receive this discounted rate. The scheduling of sessions is dependent upon the book proposal editor’s availability and will be determined in the first session.
