Amanda is a historian, writer, and editor based in Europe. She taught history to New York City public school students as a Teach For America corps member and was a historical researcher for exhibits at the New-York Historical Society. As a PhD student, Amanda taught the history of global exploration, Imperial Russia, and how to write Chicago-style papers to undergraduates. Her dissertation, based on archival research in three countries, concerned environmental relations between the United States, Russia, Canada, and Japan in the North Pacific after the 1867 transfer of Alaska. Amanda’s writing has appeared in Alaska Park Science, a journal of the National Park Service; Perspectives on History; and the International Journal of Maritime History. She speaks Russian and is a member of the EFA and ACES.
