Flatpage Press
An independent publisher of timely, conversation-starting nonfiction.

What Is Flatpage Press?
Flatpage Press is an independently owned traditional publisher of timely, conversation-starting nonfiction. We publish trade nonfiction books that challenge conventional thinking, translate complex ideas for broader audiences, and contribute meaningfully to public discourse.
We work with academics, journalists, researchers, creatives, and thought leaders whose work advances conversations in politics, the arts, culture, and society. Our publishing program is highly curated, and we acquire only a select number of manuscripts each year that align with our editorial vision and publishing mission.
Authors published by Flatpage Press work closely with an acquisitions editor who guides the manuscript through every stage of the publishing process—from proposal and editorial development to design, production, marketing, and distribution. As an independent press, we invest in every title we publish, building long-term partnerships with authors whose ideas have the potential to make a lasting impact.
If your manuscript aligns with our publishing vision, we invite you to submit a proposal for consideration.

We welcome proposals from academics, journalists, researchers, creatives, and thought leaders whose work advances conversations in politics, the arts, culture, and society.

Voices of Impact—Leadership in Action
Powerful ideas need to be published.
Publish with Flatpage Press
Most impressively, since inking the contract [the team at Flatpage has] been personally involved in all stages of writing, editing, and producing the book; they are ‘hands-on’ in the best sense of that phrase, down to the level of suggestions when my word choice was a bit off. It is clear they take great pride in what Flatpage produces, and I am grateful for their engagement throughout the process.

At Flatpage Press, we offer competitive royalty arrangements, an experienced in-house editorial team, a network of cutting-edge book designers, and marketing and publicity planning geared toward the audience of your book.
As an independent nonfiction publisher, Flatpage also offers a faster publishing time than university or Big Five presses—typically just a few months from the time the content is finalized.
We produce high-quality print and e-book formats and we implement a comprehensive marketing and distribution plan for each book. From start to finish, we’re dedicated to giving your ideas the best chance to shine.
Submit Your Proposal
Flatpage Press accepts proposals for a limited number of nonfiction titles each year. We review submissions on a rolling basis and evaluate each project for its originality, editorial quality, audience, and alignment with our publishing program.
If your proposal is selected for further consideration, an acquisitions editor will work with you throughout the evaluation process and discuss the next steps toward publication.
Before submitting, please review our submission guidelines to learn what materials to include and how to prepare your proposal. If your project aligns with our publishing program, our acquisitions editor will contact you to discuss the next steps.
